📍Yeelo Homeopathy - Ignatia Amara
Grief • Shock • Mood Swings • Hysteria
Common Name: St. Ignatius Bean
Ignatia Amara is the "Funeral Remedy" of homeopathy. It is the first remedy to give after receiving bad news, a sudden shock, or the loss of a loved one.
It corresponds to people who are romantic, sensitive, and emotionally expressive but are trying to hold their grief inside. This conflict leads to involuntary sighing, sobbing, and hysterical symptoms.
The greatest remedy for unintended/silent grief. Trying to keep the grief inside until they break down. Hysterical crying/laughing.
Sensation of a lump in the throat that cannot be swallowed. Cough is worse the more they cough. Sore throat better by swallowing hard food.
Clavus Hystericus: Headache as if a nail were driven into the side of the head. Ends with passing large amount of pale urine.
Empty, sinking feeling in stomach not improved by eating. Paradoxical: Simple food disagrees, but rich food is tolerated.
Everything about Ignatia is contradictory. While most people with a sore throat find swallowing painful, the Ignatia patient feels better swallowing rough food (like toast) and worse when not swallowing.
They might laugh at a funeral or cry at a joke. They digest heavy meals but get a stomach ache from a light soup.
It is the primary remedy for recent grief, shock, disappointed love, and emotional distress.
Symptoms act opposite to common sense: e.g., a sore throat that hurts when not swallowing, but feels better when swallowing toast.
They are sensitive, refined, and keep their grief inside (silent grief) but involuntarily sigh frequently.
A classic sign of anxiety/hysteria called 'Globus Hystericus' - feeling a ball in the throat that won't go down.
Yes, specifically for reactive depression after a loss or shock (acute grief).
Yes, constant deep sighing is a keynote symptom.
Yes, for sleeplessness caused by grief or worrying thoughts.
For nervous headaches that feel like a nail being driven into the head/temple.
Yes, piles that are painful, worse when loose stool passes, better when hard stool passes (paradoxical).
Bad news, loss of a loved one, scolding, or suppressed anger.
Ignatia patients often cannot stand the smell of tobacco smoke.
Yes, for sensitive children who get sick after being scolded or punished.
The patient may laugh spasmodically even during serious situations (hysteria).
Consolation (sometimes), tobacco, coffee, and suppressed emotion.
Yes, for mood swings or morning sickness with paradoxical appetite.
It is usually a short-acting remedy for acute emotional states. Don't take it for months.
